BUILD YOUR BASIC JEWELRY WARDROBE

Do you present the personal image you wish to convey?
Do you look professional in business?
Do you have the appropriate jewelry to wear for day and night, casual to formal events?
Do you have a jewelry wardrobe that meets your needs and flatters you?
Polished Look

Every well dressed woman needs a functional jewelry wardrobe.  This investment has an immediate impact on personal image, and creates a polished appearance.
Buy the best quality you can afford as you purchase each piece, and if your budget is too small for gold and diamonds or Akoya and South Sea pearls, buy silver, add CZ's for your sparkle, and choose Freshwater pearls.  The key is to buy timeless investments that flatter your personal colouring, your features, your size and scale.

THESE ARE THE EIGHT BASIC PIECES YOU NEED IN YOUR JEWELRY WARDROBE:
Pearl Stud Earrings
Diamond Solitaire Earrings
Hoop Earrings
Diamond Solitaire Pendant
Pearl Strand or Pearl Station Necklace
Gold Bracelet
Gold Chain Necklace
Signature Piece in your most flattering gemstone

CUSTOMIZE YOUR JEWELRY WARDROBE:
Consider your personal colouring:
What colours of gold and gemstones complement your unique skin, hair and eye colour?  Are you a Summer, Winter, Autumn or Spring?  (See Jewelry in Your Colours to help you determine your palette)
SummerWinterAutumnSpring
Do you look better in white gold like the two left images, or yellow gold like the two right images?
Do you look better in white pearls (left) or creamy pearls (right)?
If you want to accent your beautiful eyes, choose earrings for your Signature Piece in your most flattering gemstone colour.

Consider your facial features:
Do you have small, medium, or large features?  This will determine the size of your pearls and diamonds.  Diamond studs should be at least 1/4 ct each (4 mm) and pearls should be 6 mm or bigger.
Correct Size Pearls              Wrong size Pearls
In the image on the left, the large pearls match the large size lips but in the image on the right, the pearls are too large for the size of her features.
Hoop earrings should also be proportional to your features, but small and medium hoops are more versatile unless you work in fashion or entertainment.
If your features are small, clusters of pearls or your best gemstones can be magical in a necklace, ring or earrings.

Consider size and scale:
The taller you are, or bolder your personality, the more substantial or dramatic your pieces should be.  A wide cuff bracelet could be more appropriate than a fine bange, and 12 mm pearls might be just right for impact.  Your chain necklace might be an 8 mm wide Omega.  A large gemstone with a strong colour could be both comfortable and appropriate for many occasions.  Conversely, if you are small or demure in personality, these same sizes of jewelry will dominate your look, and feel uncomfortable to wear.  The Signature Piece should always be chosen to highlight your best features ( long beautiful fingers love a fabulous right hand or cocktail ring and a low decolletage is enhanced by a long necklace.)
Consider your budget:
Buy the best quality you can afford.  Your metals should be gold, silver or platinum (Gleaming silver is just as stunning as platinum at a fraction of the cost, but it does oxidize and needs to be cleaned regularly)  Start out with Freshwater pearls and move up to Akoya, Tahitian or South Sea pearls.  If diamond solitaire earrings are not in the budget, buy CZ's or diamond clusters for now.  Your Signature Piece can be as simple and inexpensive as a colour-flattering gemstone pendant for your silver chain, or as intricate and pricey as a lacy woven gold bib necklace.

Consider your lifestyle:
A bangle bracelet is a timeless classic piece, but make sure it won't be in your way when you are working.  You could also choose a gold chain bracelet, a cuff, or a gemstone bracelet.  Perhaps you prefer your everyday hoops dressed up with a dangling pearl, or lined with diamonds if you can wear more sparkle for the things you do.  Your Signature Piece must be wearable for your lifestyle, so if you work with your hands all the time, your Signature ring has a low profile (pave or bezel set).

HOW YOUR JEWELRY WARDROBE FUNCTIONS:

Pearl Necklace and Pearl Stud Earrings:
This is the timeless classic choice for an interview, business, a wedding, meeting the parents, and projecting a demure, poised, classically elegant and perfectly put together image.  It also works with jeans and a cashmere sweater.

Gold Hoops and a Gold Chain Necklace and Bracelet:
This is always appropriate for daytime, casual, business and social.  It portrays a finished look.  It is easy to wear and makes you feel polished.  To move into evening for most events that are not formal, simply add a pearl, gemstone or diamond solitaire pendant.

Diamond Stud or Diamond Hoop Earrings and a Diamond Solitaire Pendant:
For the occasions when it is appropriate for you to attract attention--date night, special dinners and important day or evening events.  This gives you mystery, sparkle, and makes you feel fabulous and special.

Wearing your Signature Piece:
For anytime, day or night, when you want to project your personality and enhance your best feature or just feel terrific.  It can be combined with other pieces from your jewelry wardrobe for the appropriate occasion.
